Kissing the warm earth with my naked feet is so good for my whole being.
I love to go barefoot!
Today I was pulling up garlic and what a thrill it was to wiggle my toes in the soil as I pulled gently on a stem of garlic. I know your not meant to pull but I just wanted to pull one before digging the others out with a spade. I was so exciting to see if the clove had grown into a bulb – the growing process never ceases to amaze me. I planted quite small cloves and didn’t cut the flower heads off so the bulbs are small – can’t wait to taste them!
I set them aside and begin to lose myself in the earthy smell and rustic textures of the dried flower heads left – they have my spirit dancing – my imagination soars at the possibilities of creatures and characters I can create with this beautiful offering from the earth.
(This coming Fall I will select larger cloves and cut the flower heads on some of the garlic so the bulbs grow bigger).
These simple pleasures enrich my life on so many levels; going back to the garden, back to the garden of love – is where I believe we need to return to.
