We Protect What We Love
The problem we are faced with today is that many children and adults don’t have an intimate relationship with nature. Creating Nature Art can help children, youth, adults and elders come together and rekindle that love affair with the natural world.
ENVIRONMENTAL ART IS INSEPARABLE FROM THE LAND
The elements from which the art projects are made are of the land, the lakes, rivers and the sea; the trees, driftwood, fallen branches, shells, pebbles as example. When we gather material for our nature art we have close contact with our environment and this “intimate” relationship is reflected in our art.
Spring and Autumn are magical seasons gifting beautiful treasure that we can gather and make into meaningful nature art. Here are just a few soulful shares that we can create even in an urban setting.
Stick People Continued…
With every season comes a new posse of stick people…daffodiles, tulips and primroses make the most adorable flower fairy stick people…
Poppies and rosehip characters emerge with the birth of Autumn.
Dried Poppies make perfect heads with a fixed crown for that little Prince or Princess.
The larger the poppy the easier it is for smaller hands to work with.
Video coming soon on how to make these adorable little characters!
Land Art
The possibilities are infinite…allow the children to collect whatever treasure they wish and their imaginations will do the rest.
For the Dancing leaf sticks all you need are a collection of leaves and sticks. Thread the stick through the leaf at least twice leaving a good few inches at the bottom so you can push the stick into the ground. Rhododendron leaves were a perfect choice as they are quite tough and waxy.
Circles are always a favourite…
