The latest terrorist attack in New Zealand left me with a heavy heart. What can I do?
When I feel overwhelmed I head outdoors. Nature always seems to provide me with answers. I had been working on a few ideas for my Spring Break classes – I had a load of driftwood lying about after the snow melt and decided to cut it into smaller pieces.
As I played with the driftwood I imagined all the pieces as little beings, playing happily together, celebrating their differences yet honouring and appreciating they were one – they were interconnected, one big family.
I began painting faces on the pieces of driftwood and it made me so happy to see them all smiling, standing together as one…
…afterall each little being was once a tree. They all began life as a tree.
We Are all branches from the same Tree
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love. For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” – Nelson Mandela
“All we are saying is Give peace a chance” – John Lennon
“My role in society, or any artist’s or poet’s role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all. ” – John Lennon
When someone is hurting, I feel their pain, with so much grief in the world it is impossible to physically help everyone but we can pray, we can offer hope and we can take action as adults to nurture a love and respect for all life in our children. Children are born with love in their hearts, nurturing that natural love is fundamental to a happy and healthy world.
As an artist I try to express my love and passion for life – for humanity, in my artwork and share what I can with others both young and old in the hope that they too feel this abundant love for all life.
Wishing you all a beautiful and creative weekend, know you are deeply loved and your love and light make the world a better place, full of gratitude Marghanita x
